Digital Printing

Digital Printing is carried out using our Digital presses and is the perfect solution for low volumes of Cards, Calendars or other products.

With a Digital Press the image is formed electronically without producing Printing Plates and this is why it is so economical for small quantities. However the cost of producing each print is much higher than with Litho Printing and after a number of copies the extra unit cost offsets the savings of not requiring Plates. At larger quantities Litho Printing is always more cost effective. If you require fifty or more of a particular product it is a good idea to check the cost of Litho against the cost of Digital to ensure that you are using the most economic system.

Another consideration which may affect your decision is quality. Whilst the quality of the work produced by our Digital presses is excellent it is not quite as good as the ultimate quality of Litho.

Finally there may be an overriding reason to choose Digital which is that every card can be personalised, this is not something which can be achieved with Litho where all the prints in a run must be identical. The first card can say 'Happy Christmas Carol' the next 'Happy Christmas Charles'. This is achieved by providing a Database of the names you would like with your order. The Database must be sent as an excel spreadsheet and you can download your spreadsheet headers here.
